Blur Is Coming Out

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The British band Blur which publicly announced it’s reunion by the end of 2008 had eventually performed live for the first time in ten years, said Contact Music. The band was singing at it’s best on June 13. Noteworthy, in order to come back to the stage Blur musicians have chosen the same venue where they’ve been performing for the first time in their career in 1988. Damon Albarn’s group did this again right next to the Railway museum near Colchester in England. For some strange reason they’ve tried to stay away from any kind of performing, and therefore left out the main thing which creates the real rock n’ roll environment. The band lost certain connection with what people call the fan base. This show’s set-list contained twenty four songs among which are Blur’s major hits such as “Girls And Boys (“Parklife” 1994), “Country House” (“The Great Escape” 1995), “Country House” (“Blur” 1997), and “Coffee & TV” (“13” 1999). The concert itself was arrangd in the classic, chamber like style including journalists, photographers and closest friends or relatives. New Musical Expresse’s main editor was taking care of the online broadcast via Twitter. In the nearest time Blur is planning to participate at the number of major shows, and those include “Glastonbury” and “T in the Park” in London.

New Drummer, New Life For The Pumpkins

Friday, June 12th, 2009

The world famous Chicago group The Smashing Pumpkins had eventually found a new drummer, said their official web site. A new member of Billy Corgan’s band is going to be the 19–years old Mike Byrne from Beaverton, Oregon. This young drummer had already spent some time with the band’s frontman and even was able to participate during the latest demo recording process. As Corgan says, Byrne is totally fitting into the band’s requirements, very talented and progressive guy. The Smashing Pumpkins vocalist had also noted that he considers Byrne to be a drummer of the future. Seems that Mike is marching on top as fast as anyone can imagine. Nineteen and working with such a band, it looks absolutely unbelievable. Before joining Corgan he used to play with an indie group “Moses, Smell the Roses” in his home town.  Byrne had replaced Jimmy Chamberlin who has left The Smashing Pumpkins in March, 2009. While leaving the band Jimmy had commented it with no real anger in his voice, only stating that The Smashing Pumpkins is not doing what it suppose to do and that he is going to spent all the time with his new solo project Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. At the same time he remains to be in good relations with hix ex-bandmates.

“L’Amour Et La Paix”

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

“L’Amour et La Paix” poster drawn by John Lennon and Yoko Ono during their famous “Bed-in for Peace” action, which took place in 1969 at the Canadian Queen Elizabeth hotel is going to appear on the auction sales, said Canwest News Service.  An auction which was of course organized by the Christie’s should occur on July 1. Another sale of Lennon’s stuff, another very common thing which repeats itself over and over again. It looks like a lot of folks out there are making big money on such things. It is expected that at least seventy thousand dollars should be squeezed out of that drawing. It seems that if something like this is getting sold out, auctioneers are just pushing it to the limits. In fact things that were created by a guy like Lennon are priceless. This poster is not going to be the only thing to get to that auction. It should also include some photograph where Lennon and Oko are standing right next to “L’Amour et La Paix”. While commenting an upcoming event one of the Christie’s representatives said that Lennon used to be extremely concerned with politics and could not stay out of it, no matter what was going on. In fact, “L’Amour et La Paix” was a couple’s reaction to political turmoil in the French speaking Quebec.

Restrictions Over The Flying Dickinson

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Iron Maiden’s leader Bruce Dickinson is not going to operate an airplane for a short period of time. A singer is a certified pilot, but during his band’s touring journey he will not be able to fly for at least twelve hours after the show, the rest is allright for him, said Blabbermouth. Stress, tiredness and other things that may be associated with the show may distort concentration that is crucial while operating an airplane. For the first time such sanctions were taken in 2008 during Iron Maiden’s “Somewhere Back in Time World Tour”. He was recommended to stay out of the cockpit for at least twelve hours after each show. Dickenson himself hoped to get the right to fly without any restrictions, but the British Civil Aviation Authority thought otherwise and recommended him to use a co-pilot’s help during the tour. Iron Maiden possesses it’s own Boeing-757, operated by Dickinson. Pretty cool thing for any band to have this kind of an airplane, especially if it’s being controlled by one of the bandmates. Even though Dickinson was somewhat upset after he had received the above mentioned restrictions. The rest of his band had agreed with the aviation authorities. “Some of the road crew were like, ‘What? After running around onstage, he is going to fly us back?”, said Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain.

Tom York Is About To Perform… Alone

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Frontman of the legendary British band Radiohead Tom York is planning to make the solo concert in the nearest time, said BBC News. Musician’s performance should take place on July 19 within the frames of Latitude music festival. The main organizer Melvin Benn has underlined the fact that he is very proud to present Tom at his festival, which is traditionally taking place in Suffolk county, England. The set list which is being planned exclusively by York himself did not go public yet, but it’s very well known that recently he was preparing some solo material. Particularly, it stopped being a secret after the release of Radiohead’s new album “In Rainbows” (2007). In other words, this guy had plenty of time to write something new and hopefully it will be absolutely cool. At the same time York’s representative had noted that musician will not release any studio album with this new material. It simply shall not go into Tom’s plans. In 2006 Tom York had released his one and the only solo album “The Eraser” which was able to reach number three on the British national music chart. Eight out of nine songs which were included in that album were personally written by York.

Converse Shares It With Meta/DC

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Famous shoe making company Converse had announced the news that it’s about to release a new line of their product, which was inspired by nothing less, but musicians. In the nearest time people will be able to see sneakers with Metallica and AC/DC photographs on them, said Aversion. Sneaker’s design that was dedicated to AC/DC will be set up within the band’s “Highway to Hell” album style (1979). In what particular way Metallica’s shoes will look like is not known yet. As Prefix notes each pair of such sneakers should go for fifty five dollars. Basically, every Metallica’s and AC/DC’s fan should strive for it, even though it may look a little bit too commercialised for many rock n’ roll lovers. Converse is not trying to do this kind of work for the first time. In 2008 they’ve produced sneakers with Kurt Cobain’s autographs and also with themes from The Ramones, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath. In addition to this, Converse’ shoe style is one of the most popular among rock music fans today. Currently, there are not so many companies that are making stuff like this, in order to get a t-shirt or jacket with ‘bands’ on it, one should make a serious search. Converse was founded in 1908 by Marcus Converse who had established his company’s headquarters in Malden, Massachusetts.

Cook Prepares “Surreal” Once Again

Friday, June 5th, 2009

Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen and Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook have announced the fact that they’re getting ready for re-releasing of their first and only joint album, said New Musical Express. The album “Surreal” which came out in 2008 was the result of their co-operation within the side project called Man Raze. The new deluxe edition of “Surreal” will not only include the original twelve tracks, but five more additional songs too. These new tracks are, “You’re So Wrong”, concert version of “Low”, dub-remix of “Turn It Up”, instrumental version of “Runnin’ Me Up” and acoustic “Can’t Find My Own Way” recorded during their performance somewhere in Britain. Sex Pistols and Def Leppard were quite different back in a day, so this co-work between Collen and Cook looks very positive. The new version’s release is going to be surrounded by Man Raze’s North American promotional tour. So far there is no information on ticket sales and venues. Man Raze was formed in 2004 by Collen, Cook and Simon Laffy from the British glam-metal band Girl. Their first concert took place on September 27, 2005 in London’s Spitz club. Certainly, tickets to that club show were sold like never before and right now it’s considered to be something out of the legendary rock n’ roll past.

Adam Lambert May Not Join Queen

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

“American Idol” participant and a singer Adam Lambert said that he is not planning to become a new Queen’s frontman, noted Blabbermouth. He believes that it’s going to be better if he concentrates upon his solo career right now, instead of getting involved with any other side projects. Of course, turning into a new vocalist in such a great band as Queen would be terrific for any performer, but this guy thinks otherwise. Information on the fact that Lambert may become Queen’s new member began to circle news agencies during the last few days. Brian May had recently said that he will not be against if a young and talented musician joins them, also underlining that such vacancy is not foreseen only for Lambert. On the other hand in one of his interviews, Lambert was thinking about making some co-operative and productive work with Queen, but did not show any particular wish to sing with them all the time. “They’ve never actually offered me anything. They expressed interest in working together, but just said they’d like to have a meaningful conversation, and that’s it. It could have meant they wanted me to come to dinner with them, it could have meant they wanted to talk about the meaning of life,” noted Lambert. Actually, it’s a little bit strange because for a guy like him it would be absolutely fantastic. Well, maybe he doesn’t like Queen that much.

Trent Against Manson

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor had recently given an interview to a Mojo magazine where he was extremely negative towards his ex-protege Marilyn Manson, said Rolling Stone. “He is a malicious guy and will step on anybody’s face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he’s become a dopey clown,” noted Reznor. As Trent also said he used to experience some difficulties with Manson way back during their joint 1994 tour. According to Trent Reznor even at that time Manson was doing everything only to enter the fame, nothing else was interesting to that guy. However, Reznor kept on co-operating with Marilyn Manson for a while and helped him to release a number of albums such as “Portrait of an American Family (1994), “Smells Like Children” (1995), and “Antichrist Superstar” (1996). In 2000 Marilyn Manson had participated in the Nine Inch Nails video “Starfuckers, Inc”, so things were not so bad for a long time since both musicians began to have arguments. Some say that there is a degree of jelousy on both sides, some believe Manson is a star with an attitude. Besides all of this, recently Trent Reznor had enough time to say bad things about other performers as well. In his Twitter micro-blog Reznor had posted some bitterness against Chris Cornell, Prince and Weezer vocalist Rivers Cuomo.
